About Kawasaki

Kawasaki Heavy Industries (Kawasaki Jkgy Kabushiki-Kaisha) (or simply Kawasaki) is a Japanese public multinational firm headquartered in Ch, Kobe, and Minato, Tokyo, Japan, that manufactures motorcycles, engines, heavy equipment, aerospace, and defense equipment, rolling stock, and ships. It also manufactures industrial robots, gas turbines, pumps, boilers, and other industrial equipment.

She Kawasaki is the name of the company’s founder. KHI, together with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and IHI, is one of Japan’s three major heavy industrial firms. KHI was a member of the Kobe Kawasaki zaibatsu, which also included Kawasaki Steel and Kawasaki Kisen, prior to WWII. Following the dispute, KHI joined the DKB Group (keiretsu).

Shozo Kawasaki, who was born in 1836, has worked in the naval industry since he was a child. He was engaged in two offshore disasters, but he attributed his survival to the ships’ modernity. As a result, the decision was made to develop technology advancements for the Japanese maritime industry. After attempting to find work, he received his first order in 1878.

Kawasaki relocated his company from Tokyo to Hyogo in 1886. This made room for an increase in orders placed with his company, as well as the renaming of Kawasaki Dockyard. When the need for ships increased during the Sino-Japanese War of 1894, the new and better company went public as Kawasaki Dockyard Co., Ltd. The company’s first president, Kojiro Matsukata, was announced.

Kawasaki began expanding its products after constructing a new factory in 1906. By the end of World War 1, they were producing parts for the railroad, automobile, and airplane industries. Following the war and the signing of the Allied Arms Limitation Treaty in 1912, Kawasaki’s shipbuilding industry suffered a significant slump. The Great Depression hit the corporation hard in 1929, causing a slew of financial issues.
