About Rolls Royce
The mishandled development of Rolls-advanced Royce’s RB211 jet engine, which resulted in cost overruns, hurt the company in the late 1960s, but it was ultimately a huge success. The owners were forced to close their business in 1971. The useful parts were purchased by a new government-owned company called Rolls-Royce (1971) Limited, which continued the core business but sold the British Aircraft Corporation (BAC).

Rolls-Royce Limited was founded on March 15, 1906, at a time when it was clear that new facilities were required for automobile manufacture.
