Nissan Motor Co. Nissan (trading as Nissan Motor Corporation and commonly abbreviated as Nissan) is a Japanese multinational vehicle manufacturer located in Nishi-Ku, Yokohama. Nissan collaborates with the Dongfeng Motor Group to develop cars in China, notably the 2006 Nissan Livina Geniss, the first of a new global family of medium-sized cars.
Research and Development
Nissan’s main research facility is located in Yokosuka’s Oppama Plant, which opened in 1961 on the former site of the Imperial Japanese Navy’s Airborne Squadron base. Nissan’s technological facilities at Suginami, Tokyo, and Tsurumi, Yokohama were merged in 1982 to form the Nissan Technical Center (NTC) in Atsugi, Kanagawa, at the foot of the Tanzawa Mountains’ Mount Yama.
NTC had 9,500 workers working in product research, design, production engineering, and buying as it celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2012.
